Once there was a murder in Whiterun.

The victim was a young Nord woman, who was apparently struck in the head with an iron ingot. The suspects were a Khajiit, a Nord and an Orc.

The guards rounded up the suspects and took them to the Jarl.

The Jarl asked each of them whether they killed the woman.

The Orc said, “I mined the ore, but I didn’t kill anyone.”

The Nord said, “I turned the ore into an ingot, but I didn’t kill anyone.”

The Khajiit said, “I took the ingot to sell it, but I didn’t kill anyone.

After hearing the three testimonies, the Housecarl asked the Jarl, “Who do you think dealt the killing blow, my Lord?” (forgot how housecarls address the Jarls)

“The Nord did it.”

“Why do you think so?”

“Because he who smelt it, dealt it.”
